An Ode to Joseph Scaturchio
A star returned to the heavens today, and it was very fitting that it occurred at the Star Of The Sea - St Mary’s Church in the heart of Melbourne. This could have truly been mistaken for a State Funeral as one of the largest churches in Australia was overflowing onto the Streets of Melbourne with mourners that had to number in the early thousands. The Service was truly ore inspiring with dedications from his friends and family that spoke of a true Champion in every aspect of life, memories of Joseph were filled with happiness and inspiration to everyone that surrounded him. A person that could fill and overflow a church of such magnitude and scale, must have truly been an amazing individual.
The photo inserted is a file photo and does not give grace to the filled to the rafters and overflowing place of worship I witnessed today. The Church is amazing and filled with history.
People traveled from all over Australia and NZ to attend Josephs service, faces in the crowd included champions of Josephs sport of choice like Sam Harvey & Kylie Ellmers. Many other faces of the Australian Jet Ski Community were in the crowd, and gave testament to how well respected Joseph and the Scaturchio family are in the world of Watercraft.
His father Tony spoke of Joseph and his recent times watching his young son evolve into the perfect gentleman who won the respect and hearts of all he met. I have the feeling that Joseph’s wonderful spirit and humility will give his family great strength and courage in their time of grief and turbulence.
Joey choose to wrap up proceedings by getting a Wrap Job in his race colors and stripes. He would have been stoked looking down at his craft to the heavens as it told the world who he was and how he lived his life. He would ride like the wind and follow his dreams, he would share his positive spirit with all whom he traveled with, and he would live dream and accept that sometimes, the light that burns twice as bright, burns half as long.
I'm happy to say his departing vessel will not be the last tribute in his honour. We have something in the worx that should do this fine young man justice and commemorate his achievements
Cheers Joey, I hope they give you something supercharged to get around the heavens on
