    Cruise Control on 2012 FX

I am looking at a 2012 FX SHO, but I have not purchased one yet. How does the cruise control work? I understand how to set it. Can you use it to towing a person on a wakeboard like PerfectPass?

    Thanks,

    Phillip

On the 2011s you just hold down on the cruise control button for a few seconds and then you can fully pull back the throttle to relieve finger fatigue and maintain speed. I assume it is the same on the 2012s

i wouldn't compaire it to a perfect pass, as the cruise control on these skis just holds a certian RPM.. not a speed// it will def. help, but when the wake boarder pulls the ski isn't going to increase speed it will just hold the Rpms you set it at hope this helps you out

    Yes
And once it's set, you use the up/down buttons to move the rpms up/ down about a 100 rpms with each push.
As 02gpR says, it doesn't hold an exact speed like a ski boat does when your pulling a skier or tuber but it works very well when riding long distances and you're doing it at less than full throttle. We ride with a group of 10-12 folks and it works great when the group is doing 50-55 down the river -- we did a group ride of 405 miles in 2 1/2 days last fall and we used it constantly-- nice feature to have-- the folks on the skis without it were wringing their right hands at every stop!

It would be nice if they would take it a step farther and tie to the speed instead of the RPM. It can not be much more than some programming and an accurate speed pickup sensor.

Yamaha has never climbed that mountain. Current speed measuring method is too prone to errors and sticking with debris. Would suck to set your cruise to 60 if the speedo sensor was locked up with debris.
I keep thinking Yamaha will adopt GPS-based speedometers, but nothing yet.
