    my new project a sltx 1050 1996

i just got a new project a 1996 sltx 1050 that is in rough shape the number 1 cylinder went the carbs were missing the mfd is destroyed, the crank is shot. and i have a lein sale on it, but i guess this ski is a plus scince i got it for free. so i am looking for parts a crank, jug with dome, mfd, i might update the stator, a top end kit and anything else you guys recommend i would like to keep this ski stock but any tricks to these 1050s let me know i just finished rebuilding my sl700 and i re did every thing crank pistons bored the jugs and rebuilt carbs and spent a grand in all of that ===== so this time around i am looking for a used crank to keep the cost down. just giving it a bath works wonders....Shouldn't be much different than doing your 700, its just an extra cylinder. DO the ignition update if it already hasn't been done, since you already have it apart. For carbs, get a set of the 40mm Keihins listed on here for 25 bucks. Brand new carbs. I would plan on around 1000 bucks or a little more to make the ski nice. Just a new top end will run you 400-500 bucks with machining. Update kits are around 350. Try John Zigler for a used crank. I got one from him last year, the thing was mint.

Look at the part number on the CDI. SHould be 4010447. Or it might have 447 written on it with a paint marker.

What you can do is swap the internal parts from the 40's into the 38's if you want to keep them.

What you can do is swap the internal parts from the 40's into the 38's and keep the same jets in the stock carbs though.
