Talking 750 ZXi. Trying to replace stock intake grate, but it is stuck!

I'm really hoping someone who has encountered this before can help me. I bought a Worx intake grate for my ZXi. I thought it would be easy to replace, but not so. The stock intake grate if fused to the housing. I've tried WD 40, rust remover, prying it, pulling it... but it is completely rusted stuck.

Any ideas how I can get them apart? Do I need to stick a flathead screwdriver between them and start hammering them apart? I don't want to break anything.

    Thanks in advance.

It took me 3 days to get mine out, soaked it with wd40 & hit with a hammer a few times, worked it off with large screwdrivers..Its cause of the metal shims installed from the factory! Good luck!

    Thanks, Mulefoot.

Well, that was a bad design from Kawasaki. I can't believe they would stick shims in there that would rust.

Sounds like I'll need to get out my hammer and go to work.
