CandooPro now Supports Yamaha
Available in the forums online store
CANDooPro is pleased to announce that we now have a diagnostic solution for Yamaha WaveRunners. This system will support the 4-stroke WaveRunners and inboard boats built from 2003 to 2012, as well as the 2 stroke GP1300R model built from 2003 to 2008.
This diagnostic system uses our current interface box, with the addition of a new cable to connect to the Yamaha harness. This system only comes in one configuration, Unlimited, as the Yamaha ECU’s do not have any VIN/HIN numbers for us to restrict usage for home users like the Sea Doo system. (While today's version only works with WaveRunners, we plan to eventually add the capability for Yamaha outboard motors in the future).
This capability is very flexible, as we can offer the Yamaha capability at a very affordable price to existing CANDooPro customers, as well as offering a Yamaha-only version at an attractive price. Please note the following options, depending if the customer already owns the CANDooPro system:
If you already have CANDooPro – SeaDoo (either Home or Unlimited)
- You can add Yamaha capability to your current CANDooPro system for $199.00. This price includes the software and the Yamaha cable.
If you do not have a CANDooPro of any kind
- You can purchase the Yamaha-only version for $299.00
- You can purchase a Home/Sea Doo plus Yamaha version for $598.00
- You can purchase Yamaha and SeaDoo (unlimited) system for $1949.00. These prices include all hardware, cables and software for both Sea Doo and Yamaha
Please note the following history of the Yamaha Factory Tool:
Yamaha’s factory tool is Called YDiS. Version 1 YDiS systems were sold to the public up until early last year. In 2011, Yamaha discontinued the tool and made a new version (YDiS 2.0) to support the new 2012’s. They released it to the public for a very short time last fall, and then pulled it off the public market; it is now sold as a Dealer only item and has very tight restrictions. (as well as expensive, $1,500) Although you can still find the old version for sale on the internet, this old version will not support the 2012 models, and doesn’t run on Windows 7 computers. CANDooPro is presently the only aftermarket diagnostic system that supports the 2012 Waverunner models.

Is this tool also a programmer to change the behavior of your ECU? Timing, Fuel, Rev limiter?

"This old version will not support the 2012 models, and doesn’t run on Windows 7 computers"
Correction: Yamaha YDIS V1.33 works with Windows 7-32 bit operating system but not 64.

"This system only comes in one configuration, Unlimited, as the Yamaha ECU’s do not have any VIN/HIN numbers for us to restrict usage for home users like the Sea Doo system." So according to this statement CANDOO is only charging more for the SeaDoo unlimited because they CAN! That SUX.

Is there a website that will show us what all this diagnostic software can do?
Edit: Nevermind. Found it. Still not very descriptive of what can be done on the YAMAHA system as opposed to the Doo.

In general, the capabilities are similar to the Sea Doo version, where you can read and clear faults, run Engine monitoring to view various engine conditions (e.g engine/air/water temps, air pressure, etc) which is useful for highlighting sensor problems, view indicators (switch statuses) which is useful for checking switch operation, activate ignition coils and injectors, drop out cylinders while running, viewing hours run time by RPM.
Pretty much everything you need for diagnosis and troubleshooting.
The one thing it doesn't do is programming remotes. The Yamaha remotes are not programmed by their factory diagnostic tool. They are programmed with a little dongle you plug into the remote harness.
If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask and we will answer them as best we can.
