    Good deal '89 Waverunner?

Guy I know from an online forum is selling an '89 Waverunner. Says it is a 600. Looks pretty clean, new battery, just dewinterized, and he said is running fine. It is ready for the water. No trailer. He was selling it to get a newer bigger ski.

Said I can take it for $500....May be able to get it for $450. Was considering a ski for my GF to learn on and to have for friends. Yay or nay pending compression test (what numbers should I be looking for)?

These are new to me. I've been researching Seadoo's as that is what I just got for my first, but the Yamaha's are different.

I am selling a 1989 yamaha 600 jetski. (trailer not included) New carburetor, battery, plugs, wires, igntition system. I am selling this jetski because im looking to get a 3 seater waverunner. I used this machine all summer, and it runs great. please email me or call me with any questions

I think that 500 dollar ski will end up costing you much more than your original investment

    About tree fiddy.

Actually, no real budget. I was just considering a 2nd ski for my gf/dad. Something cheap to have around. I don't need to get anything so i'll hold off then.

Well played. I was kind of thinking the same thing due to age. Rubber stuff even if OK now is still going to need replacing soon.

I'd stay away from that deal- that's like buying a model T in the age of a 427 vette, it just isn't worth the work. Maybe pick up an XL or a GP, both good skis with plenty of room for performance modifications, but even stock they are good and reliable machines.

Nice analogy, yama.....Yes stay away from this thing. I wouldn't take one even if it were given to me.

That's not a slam on Yamaha (obviously), but that ski is so old even for a Yamaha it's going to have issues...if not now then down the road. Even if it does run well, it's terribly slow (30 mph top speed) and handles horribly. If you are riding anything remotely new, you will constantly be stopping and waiting for your gf to catch up....oh and they porpoise like hell. I can always hear an old one once in a while on the lake...wah/wee/wah/wee/wah/wee from constantly bouncing out of the water. For its time it was a great ski, back when no one had cell phones and we all listened to cassette mix tapes....
