Shawn Alladio was recognized for her award at the 2012International Boating & Water Safety Summit (IBWSS) in San Diego,California on March 7, 2012 whereas she was formally inducted.
The National Safe Boating Council (NSBC) is proud tointroduce its prestigious Boating Safety Hall of Fame Induction for 2011. The prestigious award is used to recognizethose who have demonstrated vital leadership and support through many years ofservice to boating safety.
For 2011, Shawn Alladio, a PWC Boating Safety Instructorand Water Safety Consultant will join thirty-four other people in the NSBC’sBoating Safety Hall of Fame. Shawn iscommended for her hard work and dedication that have helped make a lastingcontribution to the interest of boating safety nationally and abroad.
Shawn Alladio has more than thirty years’ experience inrecreational boating safety. She has notonly developed, but also contributed to the field of recreational boatingsafety through personal advocacy efforts, training and program development,curriculum development and on-water first-response water rescue.
Shawn has volunteered with dozens of state and agencyorganizations, clubs and associations, including the American WatercraftAssociation and their partnership with the H2O Responders public safety program. She has also enjoyed appointments as theIJSBA Water Safety Director, the International Surfing Association water safetydirector, creating water safety training and management for big wave surfing contests,and has held many positions in these different realms.
She has developed core programs for our nation’s militaryfor personnel from the Navy, Army, Air Force and USMC, through K38 Maritimecourses. Ms. Alladio has supportedprograms for our nation’s security and border protection, counter terrorism,and enforcement issues. K38 has trained thousands of state and local publicsafety agency personnel and assisted in revolutionizing lifesaving worldwidethrough her for her hard work and perseverance. Some of her commendations includeawards by the NSBC, the National Association of State Boating LawAdministrators (NASBLA), and the National Water Safety Congress (NWSC).
In addition, she was awarded the prestigious Higgins& Langley Memorial Commendation Award for Flood and Swiftwater rescue forher actions during recovery efforts of Hurricane Katrina. She is an original IJSBA Hall of FameInductee, and has received award for heroism and has been an active competitionracer in the PWC community since 1980, focusing on endurance events. Ms. Alladio has been instrumental in WoundedWarrior PWC projects in support of the Phoenix Patriot Foundation and theUnited Warrior Survivor Foundations, and is a published author and speaker.
“It is with great pride that National Safe BoatingCouncil’s Boating Safety Hall of Fame now includes Ms. Alladio” remarks VeronicaFloyd, Chair of the NSBC. “Her work andefforts in training others has truly helped to make boating a much saferrecreational activity.” NSBC’s ExecutiveDirector Virgil Chambers read the commendation at the 2012 IBWSS presentation.

Thank you very much. I have always loved these boats, versatile, hard working but the people are the best part about being in this community.
