I use a old cheap hair dryer for decals. It does not get as hot as the heat guns and works well.

wd-40 or seadoo xps removes the glue as well,

also good for removing paint on your hands after painting a room in your house..

    My way, hair dryer.
Clean off excess adhesive with mineral spirits (good old paint thinner for oil base paints). Never use Acetone or Lacquer thinner as it will dull (damage) the surface. If it looks fresh and new under there compared to the rest of the ski, 3M polish and machine (to save elbow grease) will bring it back to almost brand new. Same goes for all top surfaces of any ski, any colour.
Going further? The metallic OEM decals require higher heat, like a paint stripper gun, but be careful as they are nasty at times.

I prefer an exacto knife and a steady hand. If I'm in a hurry then I get out my chainsaw.

    P.S. Don't take my advice.
