'11 VXR - light mods
For those of you out there not going balls to the wall on mods for the VXR, I put this post together with some light mods done to mine over the weekend
The low to mid range gains are noticeable, but the sound of the engine is simply awesome! Only downside - it chine's even worse now
Manifold sleeve upgrade..this was a bitch to get out but well worth it
R&D filter upgrade. If any of you know, will there be potential for this thing to suck in any water when the ski bounces on the waves? (if there's a tiny bit of water in the hull)
CAI - the cheap way to go, but def makes a difference
Only other things to come: Riva Sponsons, Free Flow exhaust, new grate, ride plate shim

Looks good! Mind if I ask where you found the big Yamaha logo at?

Did you happen to get any GPS speeds prio to the mods? I would be interested in seeing how much, if any speed, you gain or lose. I picked up two mph from testing at 10 hrs, and then again at 25 hrs.
Of he vxrs in our group to the two that did the snorkel delete and ff exhaust actually lost 2 mph over the first 10 hrs with the mods . The third in the group neither gained nor lost, same mods.
Try to get some numbers so you can see if what you are doing is slowing you down. If you did it for the sound, I guess it doesn't really matter. (until a stock one rides away from , that is...)
Seriously, looks like nice clean work, good job!

For me, top speed when running in a group was more important than increasing the sound. When you ride with a pack on long cruises, an extra mph or two determines whether you are leading the pack, or just trying to catch up and avoid sucking spray.

Hello everyone I am closing in on a VXR/S and I was wondering about mods for this machine...with forking out the cash for the ski this year I will not have money for mods anyway but if I have no use for more speed or a different sound are any of these mods necessary for what is most important to my family and me which is safe and reliable...
