    Verticle or horizontal?

Just picked a double trailer and the bunks need to be redone. Currently the bunks are installed like most. 2x4's, with the wide side facing up(horizontal).
Would it make a difference if I installed my new bunks in a verticle position? I already have a couple of brackets that utilize the verticle position. I don't want to buy a whole new other set of brackets if I don't have to. The trailer will be holding two Yamaha 3-seaters.

I'd run them horizontal. Vertical might stress the hull and lead to premature cracking
