Thread: 10 hour service

    10 hour service

I have a 2010 stx 15f that I bought new last spring... She currently has 24 hours and runs great with no issues. I have changed the oil already. The manual states that I should take it into the shop for a 10 hour service. Seems like a waste of money to me. Am I missing something?

Yes, if you have a warranty. If there is a problem later and you cant prove regular maintenance checks were completed properly, as scheduled, then warranty may be voided.

Isn't the 10 hrs service just hose checks and the like? If that's all it is, then I'd do it myself and write it all down with dates/hrs. At the least, you are far past the 10 hr check but you should find out what is to be done. I'm not sure they can void warranty claims that easily.

On the 15F, I would check the pump bearings as a pre-caution. Bearings should last 50+ hours on that ski if installed "properly" though.

Bloody thing only has a one year warranty and that is up in early June, so I am not to worried about that.

If i were you, i would bring it for the service check before something get wrong. If for exemple the pump bearing need to be check at 10hrs and you haven't brought it and fail before the next service, it could ruin your engine and you could be held responsable for the repair. As long as you still have warranty you better follow the service schedule if you don't want to have futur warranty problems

I agree 100%. Its nice to have clean papertrail with dealer, exactly as specified in manual and warranty agreement, if something goes wrong.
