    95 sl 750 no spark

hey everyone im new here but this looks like the place to be

i got my ski in january its a 95 sl750 , did the carbs new fuel lines pump upgrade cleaned it up real good
just got it out on the water a couple weeks ago ran great got goin then just died so after a long paddle back lol i got in on land and started lookin

what i found the battery had shorted out on the electrical box and burnt up the wires( i got a new plastic battery cover now) so i took out the stator and put replaced the whole wiring harness as well but now once i got it back in place there is still no spark???

could something else have shorted out? kill switch, cdi, coils??? and how do you test everythin i have a clymer manual but its kinda vague and i dont know where to start

thanksin advance for the help i want to get it back on the water asap

    Welcome to the Hulk

    Ohm test the stator

    Ohm test the coils,

Disconnect the kill switch from the elec board,

    Disconnect the MFD

and if those pass try replacing the CDI.

The manual should have the testing procedure and specs for them in the elec chapter.

ok, ill try testing everything, what does disconnecting the kill swith and mfd do? do you unplug the mfd at the unit itself of unplug the wires in the electrical box? and from what i saw you an only unplug the kill switch wires from the electical box right?

Disconnecting the kill swith will eliminate it from any possibliity of being at fault if it's grounding out. Yes, disconnect from the elec box. (you will have to stop the einge by choking it out if it starts)

It seems the MFD has been linked to some elec issues, so just unplugging it, will eliminate that from a possibility. Yes, disconnect from back of the unit

No way to test a CDI, you just eliminate everything else first. A shorting battery can cause many issues....

Check to see if the circuit breaker on top of the elec box is tripped.

Lastly, what's your location? Might have a member near you that can lend you a CDI for testing.

I have one I could loan out, and with a harness for testing so you wouldn't have to pull your CDI and install the loaner......
