Painting front cowling cover
The front cowling cover on the GPR, the clear/smoke colored part, is looking kinda ****ty on my bike. It is hard to clean and looks slightly scratched all the time. The alternative to this part is either the racing front end, to much money for me, or the carbon fiber part from RIVA, which is also a little steap for a non performance part.
So my question is.....
Can you paint this front cowling part I am talking about? I would think you could but wondered if anyone has. If you guys could throw in your comments on painting it or pictures that would be great. I am looking to paint it either a dark dark grey almost black or gloss black.

Proper prep work, correct conditions, the right paint, and a clear coat, and it will last for years.

I painted mine and get compliments on it all the time. Use a grey scotchbrite pad to scuff it and then 2 part urethane primer sealer. I then sprayed both sides with black basecoat. I went around the raaised edge with silver and then blue candy over the whole thing. Then urethane clear coated it all, looks great and no more water spots on the underside that you can't get rid of.

like hydrotoys said, proper prepwork and good choice of paint and it will last. i have done 2 of mine and getting ready for a third. make sure you wipe it down after prepping it. and the clear coat is the most important

You can also buff these out sometimes they come up like new. Get a good creme wax and wool pad.

I also wax it regularly. But they do look good painted also. I've seen some painted White visors that look good.
* Also LVNSPEED knows of a guy that can paint it to look like Carbon Fiber !

buff that thing out ... starbrite 2 part plastic restorer (west coast marine) or if your paint detail shops carry ardex 1500 or 2000 plus in stock (we restore lexan headlights here at work with it)
