03 gp1300r middle cylinder seized, doesnt make sense

I just got this ski. it is an 03 gp1300r with riva racing heads and a bunch of other riva parts on. i had the ski out for a good part of the day , i was heading back and suddenly lost power, ski turned off thats when i noticed the middle cylinder was smoking. take the head off and there was no piston. the only thing i could see was the piston shaft and the crank. the whole piston melted in side, i then looked at the ports for the water and noticed the inlet for the water on top of the head was blocked off. but it looks like it was meant to be blocked off. it was a solid piece of brass where the water should of flowed to cool off the cylinder. Doesnt make sense. the 1st and 3rd cyclinder are fine. should that middle cylinder be blocked off. i wouldnt of thought so and i found out the hard way. Another question is do you guys think it is worth rebuilding?
thanks for all your help....BTW the ski only has 52 hrs on it
i will try to post pictures of the disaster

WOW that is bad. you need the correct fitting to properly cool that cylinder (one that will flow water) and as bad as that cylinder is you will most likely need another crank. check to see if you have a hole in the cases since the piston is destroyed.

better check out the cases too... Usually when you lose a rod, the cases don't fare too well
