2008 ultra 250x vs Seadoo gts 130... WTF need upgrades??

I was out on my jet ski yesterday and my friend rented a seadoo gts 130 so we could have a race for a while..

The seadoo pissed all over my ultra 250x in calm water and in rough sea.... the ultra 250x is fast on take off and does around 67mph but its just no where near as fast as the seadoo... In the waves I'm soaked.. constant blast of salt water in my face where as the seadoo seemed to trim over MUCH better with my friend staying relativly dry in comparison..

The gts isn't even seadoos race version its designed for touring..

What can i do to make the ultra 250x faster than a touring seadoo?

Honestly if it was rough and your friend was kicking ur but u just need more practice riding. As for speed where you using a gps ? Because I doubt it was actually doing 67. More like 64-65. U can do a sc pulley and what not to get to 68-70 but not worth what comes with that speed. My suggestion find rough water and learn to ride her. A 250-260 will never bee a speed demon.

Learn to ride there is no way that 130 should be any where close to the 250....................if it is running correctly....

there is no way the seadoo 130 can keep up with speed and chop. That seadoo doesn't have the power or the hull to keep up with your ultra. I'd use a GPS and also verify your ski is running properly.

well its true I'm brand new to jet skis but we raced on a flat intercostal area when it was like a millpond u just sit there and give it full throttle its nothing to do with riding ability, seadoo was still pulling away slightly. when i ride slowly in no wake zones i notice a bit of smoke coming from the exhaust.. i wouldn't say its excessive its a little less than if ur puffing on a cigar.. bad rings? ski has now 41 hrs.. I've driven into sand banks twice now at very slow speed also.. could that have damaged the impeller? thanks.

Your ski sounds fine, If your impeller is bad you will feel it slipping when you punch the throttle at takeoff from a dead standstill.
The key is to get the jump on him and never get off the throttle.

Get a GPS and see what you are running, and look at your RPMs....does it cavitate out of the hole....?

not sure what cavitate out of the hole means... but it takes off fast.. when i pull the throttle full on from a standstill it pulls right up out of the water and feels like I'm flying.. i thought the gts 130 would have meant 130hp and my 250x was 250hp.. i thought there would be no competition. Ill get a gps and see how fast it really goes.. I ride motorcycles and it feels around 60ish..

A good running SeaDoo 130 runs about 55-56 with the wind, the 250Ultra should be doing about 65 if everything is in good condition. If your speedo said 67 you are probably in the 62-63 range, but you need a gps to verify speed. Did your buddy rent that 130 from a run of the mill rental outfit, or someone he knows? Your buddy may have duped you, that machine he rented may have been a RXT with 130 decals on it, that's similar to what I do, I have a 15F with the R&D kit & I put 12F decals over the 15F decals, so when someone wants to play around they end up racing a 65mph ski instead of a 53mph ski.
