Is my TDR waterbox fastened properly on my RXPX?

Hello, I have a 2008 RXPX and I installed a TDR waterbox on it. I didn't go "thru-hull" like what most probably do, I just basically swapped the stock waterbox for the TDR. The TDR waterbox is much smaller than the stock one. When I took the stock out, there was an black elastic-like rubber band that wrapped around the waterbox that seemed to give it more support I guess? This band was too big to wrap around the TDR waterbox. My question is, is this band necessary? I'm guessing not as everything seems to fit pretty snug. Anyone think differently?

    Thanks!

Oh, and as for why I swapped the two, I was hoping to get more noise out of my machine without going through the pain of doing a thru-hull. I don't really notice a difference between the way it sounded before and now. I'm pretty green when it comes to wrenching.

I'd take a picture to show the waterbox, but it's so damn tight, I can't really fit a camera in there!

The strap will hold the box tight to the hull to prevent bouncing around when going over waves, etc.

tie a knot in the middle of the strap to make it shorter, that should work.....

Curious if you have heard anyone losing the seal from bouncing around when going over waves?

I would make sure it's secure... That's the last thing you need coming loose

Is yours a thruhull? I'm curious as to the sound of yours is louder than the stock

Ocman has TDR box with a thru-hull. His is pretty loud. I can't hear his ET SCer over the exhaust.
