03 gtx supercharged acceleration issues.
Hey guys, My dad has two gtx's one is supercharged and the other one is a wakeboard edition. BOTH have the same problem. When you pin the throttle the ski just revs to the max and slowly catches up to speed. I was guessing maybe a pump related issue but i really don't know. The one will top out around 55 the other one won't go over 40 and the acceleration is terrible. Like i said the thing just sits there and revs and slowly slowly catches up to speed. What do you guys think?

cavitation issues. those models have a plastic pump. replace with a newer aluminum pump with a new wear ring. check to see if the props are damaged also the carbon seal and bellows probably need replaced.

plastic pump flexes under load, and wears out the wear ring prematurely.
you can pull the pump, inspect the pump / wear ring/impeller for damage, if all looks ok, flip the wear ring over so the fresh, unworn part is over the impeller. this will fix the problem until the flexing wears out the ring again in 50 hrs +/-
could also be the accordion boot/carbon seal , but try the wear ring 1st. if impeller is chipped bent, it can also cause cav. if you can see light around the wear ring, btw the ring and the impeller, its worn, the clearance should be very tight, but still allow the impeller to spin freely. like so tight you cant get a piece of paper btw the impeller and wear ring.
