What's the difference between a VXR and VXS?

Trying to decide between these two.

The seat and the color options. I believe they both come with a rear boarding step now.

So the VXS could be the quicker/faster ski? Is it the same hull?

Same ski-differnt colours(the proper way to spell it! ), seat and Vxr has a boarding step, vxs not-hence the weight/length differnence-but as another poster said, Vxs may now come with a step-it dosent in Europe.

if the 3-4 lbs weight of the boarding step makes any difference in speed, then yes, the VXS would be the (ever so slightly) faster ski....

But I think you'd need a couple of dozen back to back GPS speed runs to verify the actual difference 3-4 lbs makes the speed of our skis--I think it takes a few more lbs than that to make a noticable one. 3-4 lbs is the weight of a half gallon or two liters ( litres?) of gas.

To me, the key is whether you want a boarding step--wouldn't let the weight difference make the decision---too insignfigant unless you'll be stripping the ski down to bare minumum weight to race it

If I was just using it as a single or two seater - vxr looks nice (nicer colors IMO) -
but for me and my small kids/friends - I sometimes need to have one or two of them in front of me - vrx seat would be very difficult so VXS it was for me.

Only ever got on the back of the ski from the water once in 25+hrs so No boarding step required for my type of use.

If you are down south and ride in the heat and jump in alot to cool off - I can see the importance of a step.

I myself just bought a 2012 VXR. Seat looks sportier and color was more attractive to me.

the "R" on the side makes it faster..everybody knows this..!! really the differance is the seat...the vxs is a flatter seat and the vxr has a saddle built into it.
both have tow hooks and boarding ladders.....the vxr has a big grab handle ,and since its a lighter ski re-boarding is very easy as the tail dips to ya..... Jarret come out to the pool and try one out...and if you roll up to a rxt 215 hp and get it on you will see a sad look on their face ........
