06 RXP intake grate question?
First of all I want to thank everyone for there help and tips on getting my 06 RXP up to speed for the first race of the year,
I had a good first race with the new mods on the ski, but the cavitation was killing me on the start,
The bellows and carbon seal looks good and fresh,
I have a speed freaks bellows band on the way to eliminate the weak point in the bellows,
Now to re think my intake grate,
I have a riva top loader right now and it is not too bad, but I think there is something better for Closed Course Racing,
Not to start a big debate, or Riva Bashing but I have been searching for some past post on the subject and did not find much for grates for the RXP heavily modded,
Has anyone done any side by side comparisons on any grates?

As far as intake grates go the R&D has been proven many times for close course racing..it has a different scoop design that seems to help keep the boat hooked up in choppier conditions..NOW This is not my experiance as i have a R&D sitting here yet to try, this info is from what i have read and seen from forum members on this site...

I saw that the R & D seems to be a little better liked than the Worx grate,
Is there a couple of different R & D ones for the RXP? or just on model?
"Have you checked and replaced the neoprene seal"?
I have taken the complete bellows assembly apart, were is the seal?
which part number in this exploded view?

I ran both R&D & Riva on my 06 rxp.. The riva will, I repeat, WILL break eventually. Mine broke, 3 others I know of in my area broke.. The riva gave me 100 rpm more on top over the OEM grate and the best top speed over the R&D too. But, the R&D had much better hookup and less cavitation over the riva hands down. If you ride flat water & looking for top speed then the riva is for you but I see you race so go with the r&d & girdle kit. Another alternative is the WORX grate, I run it on my RXT and love it.
