Easy Ficht Engine Fuel Pressure Regulator Fix

Came across this fix on one of the other polaris forums and figured I'd share it here.

The fuel pressure regulator on my 2002 Virage TXi recently fell into my tank. Rather than remove the pump and tank to replace it, I used a fuel pressure regulator from a Kawasaki model that used the same ficht fuel injection system. The regulator comes from the 130 ultra series and the 1100 STX DI series. The regulator from the kawi is an inline regulator that just sits in the return line after the schrader valve. Takes 2.25 minutes to install and gives me 30 psi on the nose. Engine fires right up and runs great.

When installing the fuel pressure regulator, the end with the notch around it is the inlet side, this should be facing the schrader valve. The fuel pressure regulater should be installed inline past the schrader valve, otherwise you wouldn't be able to measure any fuel pressure.

Got a link to the posting on that other Polaris site?

Update: Click here for the current recommended repair for Polaris Ficht fuel pressure regulator.

The inline Kawasaki regulator does not provide consistent fuel pressure or flow. Not recommended.

I saw that somewhere while surfing the web once too, but had assumed that Keith already posted it. Now I can't remember where it was.

30 PSI, not something in the low 20's?

30PSI almost sounds like the return flow is completely blocked. What is the fuel pressure when you clamp off the return line? Does it rise higher? If not, something seems wrong.
