    Ocean riding

Whats up guys I have a question. How many of y'all ride rxps and other big skis in the surf and ocean? My buddy has a place on topsail island and that's all he wants to ride is in the surf. We went out over the weekend with that storm offshore and the waves were crazy I came off a few all messed up and had to quit before I got hurt or messed up my ski. And I know surf riding is what kills our SCs right? My 08 went out at 70 hrs. My buddy lives at lake Norman and I grew up on a lake so that's what I like. How many of y'all have tore up anything riding in the surf and jumping big waves?

I have had ski come in with the motor sitting side ways because it ripped all the motor mounts from jumping big waves. Key is how you land that puts a lot of stress on the hull and other parts.

Yea that's what we try to be careful with. I just am scared of how much we are killing the SC on our skis. I really just need a nanner to surf ride and leave the rxp for the lake.

Are we Spose to let off the gas when the ski lands back in the water? I know we're Spose to I can't remember when

Not that I haven't done it myself, but launching a heavy 4-stroke ski off waves is probably about the most abusive thing you can do to it. As Jim pointed out, the stresses you put on the hull & motor mounts is your main concern, not the SC. If you want to get big air & have fun in the surf, something like the little XP in your sig would be perfect. Or even better, a stand-up.

Yes, you want to let off the throttle before landing. Can't comment on Doos, but I know plenty of people who've snapped driveshafts & couplers on Yamahas from landing with the throttle wide open.
