    Rpm loss

    Hello all,

I have a 2011 rxp and a couple days ago must have sucked up a small log or stick.

I used to run 8100 rpm at WOT with Solas prop/ free flow pipe and intake. I'm now down to 7980 max rpm. Would a chewed up wear ring cause an rpm loss or could it be from the warmer air temps?

    Thanks

Could be both. or a nicked prop.

get under your ski and have a look back through your intake grate to see if you can see anything unusual with the impeller and wear ring. Take the grate off if you need to. Look for knicks in the impeller blades or lines in the wear ring.

It could easily be attributed to the weather. Changes in air temp, water temp, humidity, etc can all make a significant difference to performance.

It was not uncommon for me to see 200 rpm less than normal on a hot day.

Thanks guys I will check out my wear ring and prop.

Now I'm trying to understand how a damaged ring or prop would cause an RPM loss? Wouldn't you just be sucking more air through the pump causing lower speed but same RPM? How would this result in less RPM?

One more question, if I do see the wear ring needs to be changed and I need to pull the pump, there is a black sealant around the pump, what type of sealant is that and should I use it again when re installing the pump
