    Yamaha XL700 problems

Hello all! i'll got som problems with my xl 700, that i really need som help with. It dosent go well on high beams/prm <(dont know that word for this). The top speed right now is 40 mph, wich i little, even for a xl700.
i works fine when I increase the throttle to about 75%, but when the max the throttle its starting act poor, like misfire/bluddering or something.

    I have:

    Rebuild the carbs

Reset the high and low screw to standard

Done a comp-test. (145 PSI on both cylinders)

Checked the exhaust for cracks or something

    But it still goes bad.
I dont know what to do now, does anyone have any clue? i whould be forever greatfull.

Excuse my english, it not the best, i hope you understand what i mean.

    /MVH
    Niklas

Did you set the carbs correct the mixture screws should be (lows both 5/8 turns out) (the highs front cylinder 5/8 turn out and the rear cylinder 1 1/8 turn out)
by any chance did you change the jet size.

    Hi Jim!

I did set the carbs to 1˝ (one and a half turns) both low and high, all four. It was a guy who works much with skis that told me that tha was standard?
The jetsize is not standard. its 144mm now, and standard is 155mm. Do you think i can have something to do with this?

Hi Imsobored. I bought a repairkit for mikuni, so i was no needle and seat in that kit, so no.

1.5 turns out is not stock. jims numbers are stock per service manual. try readjusting them.

and rebuild kits dont include needle and seat, need to buy seperately
