    04 185 gtx random misfire/wont pass 30mph.

I am a new member to this forum. I hope someone can help me out.

Like the title states I have an 04 gtx with a random misfire(it changes between all 3)/wont pass 30mph and wont rev passed 5000. The ski has a rebuilt motor with about 25-30 hours

I'm assuming its either the MPEM or the ECU because friend left my battery terminal lose and I didnt know until I was out in the water. The ski kept beeping when I would hit a wave but I didnt see any warnings on the display and it wouldnt pass 30, then the ski just died and I had no power. So when I check the battery the Negative was lose I tighten it up and it turned right on.

    Here are some symptoms:
Starts right up but idles rough because of the misfire.
Pulls nice from a dead stop but once it hits 30mph/5000 it just falls flat on its face.
The misfire gets worse when it runs for about 5-10min rpms drop to like 800-1200.

Things I have done and they all checked out fine.
    compression test
    fuel pressure
    spark plugs
Voltage regulator works fine. I even tried a friends regulator to make sure.
    No blown fuses
    no codes
injectors work fine. tried two sets.
Coil pack work fine. tried two sets also.

Could the lose battery have caused some kind of spike n shorted something out in the MPEM or ECU? Searched but couldnt find anything.

Sounds like a bad coil pack.

If it is missing at idle pull the coils 1 by 1 and if it misses more when u pull a coil then that coil is good.
If it misses the same when u pull a coil then that's ur bad coil.

Also I hope u have already changed the supercharger washers.
Because when they break it will not go above 6k rpm and 40-45 mph.

Just updated my post I forgot to mention I checked the coil packs. As far as the charger the previous owner said it was done.

pull your injectors make sure their all getting a good spray, and no a battery coming loose shouldnt spike it out but just leave you stranded or riding back holding a wire on, also wouldnt hurt to check your timing, engine would still idle fine with the supercharger hose off so thats not the problem

I checked both my injectors and another pair and they worked fine. I'll check the timing but I never messed with it. So the only way it would be off is if it jumped teeth or something broke in there causing it to jump?

Previous owner SAID it was done sort of scares me.
I've been told that and then found out it was b.s.

If you do have broken washers it would explain the low speed and rpm.
Maybe some pieces of the washers have made there way into your timing??
You can pull the hose off the charger and try to spin the inner wheel.
If it spins freely the previous owner got u...

Ill check out the charger and timing cause anything is possible. I got a friend who is going to bring me an MPEM and ECU this weekend/early next week so we can try them out and see what happens. I will post an update.

First off.. I'm not an expert so...
Did you check the code when the problem occurred? Some codes will reset and not show up on the display. Dealer can pull code history.
Some fault codes will force it into limp mode, depending on the fault it will limit to different RPMs.
I can’t find the link now but will post if I find it.
I’ve just developed a similar problem, it showing code P1611

Well finally got around to working on the ski again and the end result was an exhaust leak from the J pipe. The exhaust fumes were leaking into the hull suffocating the ski and not allowing it to use fresh air. The ski is running like a champ once again
