PTO boot oil leak
I'm finding oil leaking from the PTO boot area on my ski. I am not sure if the bearing failed or if the clamp is not holding tight enough and properly around the boot. This past weekend I managed to lose all of the engine oil into the hull. Has anyone done a how-to or come up with a way to seal the boot to the bearing. I've heard some use rtv silicone and a special clamp, the worm clamp on there now doesn't seem to do the trick. my searches have found this problem seems to happen often, but I didn't see a sure fire solution short of rebuilding the whole thing.

Check the engine to pump alignment and impeller balance.

Not necessarily......check the alignment. When you had the impeller out did you support the driveshaft or did you just let it hang?

I let it hang, didn't know it would need supported...? How do I check the alignment, do I need a special tool?

I did the same thing and pulled the worm clamp right off of mine. You are probably in the same boat. Mine leaked out alot of oil too. I put it back on with a new clamp and its been fine since

Yes I know they have a special clamp, but a guy on here said this would work great and it has.

ha ha that sucks<that is why mine is all torn apart right now, doing a complete rebuild just because I dont feel like dealing with 3qts of oil in the hull ever again. I just bought a new driveshaft and all kinds of other goodies. http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/show...=176678&page=4
