    Any Mercruiser 'experts' out there?

    Hi,
I have a Mercruiser 5.0 litre V8 carbed engine (2001), and have been offered a complte fuel injectiion system, cdi, relays etc of a 99efi engine (Not MPI).
It was water damaged due to rotted manifolds.
Is it a straight foreward swop?
    What about the wiring plug?
Do I need a new fuel pump etc?
    Basically, is it worth doing?
    I have been told it's about a 25-30 h.p increase.
    Thanks.

It would probably be a time consuming swap. If I was you and had the time I would do it. Yes you will have to have another fuel pump and all of the sensors, etc.

And you will have to have it programed for air and fuel ratio. It will increase horsepower and fuel economy if that matter. It worth it if you have the time and patience to do it . Keep in mind you will need to re prop the boat after install due to hp increase
