Can I swap out the 1200cc with a 1050cc in a TX?
I have a 2002 Virage TX with a blown motor "piston through block" I have a chance to get a 1999 SLHX 1050cc for $600. Can I use the carbs off my old motor and Elc on the 1050cc and it all fit and work?

Short answer is yes. You would need to rejet the carbs but everything else should be plug and play.

Jet pump impeller may need to be changed to match the reduced engine power.

What is the HP of the 1200 vs 1050? What the 1200 a better motor or just a 1050. Is the 1200 a over bore on the 1050?

135 HP, 84mm bore x 70 mm stroke
120 HP, 81 mm bore x 68 mm stroke

Was the 1200 a better motor than the 1050 as far as durability?

Mechanically, no. They are just about the same.
Electronically, depends if you have updated ignition. 1200 cc from yr 2000 up have updated gen 3 ignition.

I plan to keep all elc that came with the 02 TX and just drop the 1050cc in. I will take the flywheel and stator of the 1200 and put on the 1050. The black box in the bac should be the same?

While the box is the same but coils and CDI from old 1050 won't work with updated stator. So in nut shell keep all electricals from your 02 TX and you should be good to go.
