question about the new 150 speedster VS the old one

I am in the market for a sea doo 150 speedster with the 255hp engine.
I was considering buying a used 09 with 32 hours on it for $15,000 but I just read the supercharger has to be rebuilt quite often on these boats.
Is it worth just buying a brand new 2012 instead? Did they make any engine changes to the 2012? Like getting rid of that ceramic washer I keep hearing about?
    Thanks in advance.

The ceramics have been gone a for a few years now...I think 2009...The "X" models had metal washers in 08 but I think everything else had them in 2009 or 2010...

If the used one your looking at has the most current rebuild kit installed, then it is good for 200 hours...Other wise the rebuild should be done at 100 hours

The guy says its completely stock. No work has ever been done.
So even the brand new ones have to be rebuilt at 100 hours?
It's not just the ones with the ceramic washers?

    Not true.
I had 138 hours on my 09 gtx i.s. limited edition 255hp ski and decided to get the charger rebuilt because I was told every 100 hours to do it. Well after pulling it and bringing it to my mechanic he tells me that its completely fine but he will rebuild it any way.
This ski has been wot 80-90% of its life and its charger at 138hrs was still good.
To rebuild it was only 400$
That's cheap considering the power supplied by it.
No you don't have to rebuild every 100 hrs.
Rebuild when it takes a shit.
By the time u need a rebuild it will be even cheaper.
2 yrs ago the cheapest rebuild I could find was 800-1000$
09 and 12 motors are the same dependable 1500cc rotax..

08 and newer all have the metal washers.
And my gtx 255 has the same exact motor as the boat your looking at.
Very dependable and strong as an ox..

Not very good advice. If you wait until the sc takes a shit, your motor will likely get destroyed too when the sc grenades into it. At the very least, you would be pulling the motor to disassemble and clean thoroughly. Not cheap!

Yea you should be fine with 09 but I would consider rebuilding the charger around the 100 mark don't wait for it to go it will cost you more money in the long run and a lot more headaches.
