How far will a VXR go on the buzzer?

Last week my fuel buzzer went off at the ramp and when I refueled it, it stopped around 9-10 gallons. If its got that 15 gallon tank that means theoretically there was another 5-6 gallons in there. I'm wondering how much farther will the VXR go after the fuel buzzer goes off?

Probably a long-azz way, especially on the N/A engine...
we run our FZ's down to the beeper all the time, but we've never run out of fuel and we always get back to the dock!

my '12 VXR will still have 5-6 gallons when it hits the last fuel mark (only one notch left). I've filled it up with 9.5gallons once it reaches this at the pump, so obviously that leaves ~5 gallons that were left.

Since the buzzer is about 45 minutes to an hour from hitting that notch for an average ride (at least for me)... I would assume at least ~3 gallons left, maybe just a bit less.

so likely another 30 minutes or more as long as your not WOT, lolol

Hehe, yep that's when the GPS runs start But also when the porpoising starts as well. I still need to look at what to do about the ride plate.

I'm just wonder if those last 5-6 gallons are accessible or if the tube in the tank can't access them. I guess there is really one way to find out. Take a couple of gallons with me...

I have been 85 miles on a tank of fuel with no fuel buzzer....I put 9.6 gallons of fuel back in......it was smooth water cruising around 40 mph with a few WOT runs.......another time I hit the fuel buzzer and had about 20 miles to get back to the ramp.....I made it and refueled with 13.5 gallons... I dont have mileage numbers from that day though and it was a bunch of hard riding on rough conditions.....

On my SHO and FZR, I've hit the buzzer just as I was pulling in before and it only took 10 gallons to fill, so they still had 8 gallons left. Another time, one of them took 12 gallons, so had 6 left. We once rode the SHO about 10-12 miles on the buzzer (don't remember how much gas it took after that). I think part of when the buzzer comes on depends on how rough the conditions are. Seems to be set to leave you plenty in reserve, probably 1/3 tank (rule of 1/3's- 1/3 to get there, 1/3 to get back, 1/3 reserve). With that, it would make sense that you would have 5 gallons left in a 15 gallon tank.

If I'm going to run out and have to refill on the water, I'd rather it be down on the Brazos that out in the chop.
