Oil dissapeared from my Kawasaki Jet Ski Ultra 150

    Hey guys,

We have a 2003 Kawasaki Ultra 150 that we had winterized by a dealer last winter. We filled the oil up when we got it back (topped it off). We ran it for about 1 hour or so and it then started making a horrible shaking noise and wouldn't go faster than 10mph at the most.

We dropped it back off at the same dealer last week. They called us today to tell us the oil is BONE DRY. I'm not sure how this is possible. We have now lost some compression on a couple of the cylinders (90, 115, 130).

We had the cyclinders re-plated last year because the oil lines cracked and we were un-aware. That was an expensive fix.

Any ideas on how the oil would be dry?

    Thanks,
    Mike

    Welcome aboard, kcimme!

Sorry to hear about your problem, that's terrible. I would certainly expect to find a bunch of oil in the bottom of the hull, if there was a leak. Another possibility is that the cable may have come off pulley on the pump, causing it to pump way too much oil.

Steve45 - Thanks for responding. There is no oil pooling in the hull. If the pulley came off and it was pumping way to much oil, wouldn't we see a lot of smoke?

I would certainly expect smoke, and the gauge/warning light.

Put some oil in the tank and see if you can spot a leak.

seems like someone should have inspected and serviced the complete oil system after the first failure including the warning system, fix the cause first then the problem so ta speak, if the leak cannot be found i would'nt trust the system.

Oil doesnt evaporate so its going somewhere. If not in the hull, in the engine. Does it smoke ungodly when you ride it? Have the carbs recently been serviced?
