New Hood Pics
What I learned tonight was that it will be easier to drill the rivits from the front side. I had a couple of places chip when I pulled the side piece off. If you remove the allen screw from the front of the cover you can drill them out easier and have less stress on the gelcoat.
I hope you can see the fit of the hood from some of the pics. If you look close you can see a very large gap where the new hood does not mate up. I think leaving the side pieces will not look all that great, but to each his own.
I am going to order the new parts and see if I can leave the side trim piece just for the sake of not having to fill as many holes. With both pieces removed there would be 13 holes to fill.
The repair kit will be 100% perfect on the colored boats but the grey is another story, but we will find out.

Here are some of the RXX hood.
I sprayed it with a flexable primmer and coated it with a flexable bumber coating.
I took 1 close up shot so you can see the grain in the RXX hood.
The RX hood is the smooth finish like our stock hoods.
I will put all the pieces back togather and get it on the ski this weekend.

Any reason you didn't stay with it plain black to match the engine cover?
Looks Damn good!

Does the gauge pod fit in without any issues?
I agree, the fit with the side pieces sucks. Im going to remove mine as well. Richard shipped my hood parts today so that will give me something to play with next week.

The hood had a few scratches and I want it to look perfect.
So I used bumper spray dye which makes it look just like a new part.
It looks a little more glossy in the pics.
I will now go over it with a satin clear coat for protection.
After it is cleared I will snap some more pics.

Jerry no you have to cut out for the gauges to fit.
You will have to cut the center piece out and make both holes 1/4" larger to get our gauges to fit.
I used posterboard to cut a template and scribed around that.
Then I used a roto zip blade in my air tool to cut it out.

Here is the hood before I got it.
You can see the two gauge pod holes.
