Intake Grate 97 Seadoo XP
I accidently ran over my tow rope and into the intake grate it went. After towing the ski to shoar i noticed the intake grate was no longet there. My ski has 1 hole in front section of grate and 2 in back section. The back section bolts up to a plastic piece in front of impellor (pump shoe i believe). Im assuming this plastic piece is supposed to have bolts built in. To screw intake grate into. So if thats the case. They got torn out. The holes are still intact no cracking or anything. I looked in the front hole, can see threads. So im assuming im ok there. So my question is. Can I epoxy nuts back in? Or what do I have to do? Tips tricks appreciated. Or do I have to buy that piece new and take off the ride plate to install? Thanks in advance guys.

i had the same thing happen to my 97... what i did and some may not like but its been holding up great for the past 4 years, is just get some bigger coarse thread bolts and use them as self tapping.. takes a bit of force for them to cut into the plastic but it works perfectly..

Thanks for the reply. I endend up grabbin some stainless bolts. Cut the heads off. And marine epoxy them in where the brass sleves would have been. And put the nuts on bottom side with a little loctight 242. Hopefully she hold. At same time replace intake grate with a r&d. Only time will tell i guess. Thanks again
