Looking for Help/Info on Hood Shock Issue/Replacement
Was out last weekend and found hood weighs a ton. Got off water, found shock had come
off ball stud on 1 side. The shock (under the boot) was really rusted and I couldn't get it to compress at all.
So I ordered a new one.. What a bitch to install- hood has to come off and then need 2.5 people to
set back on as a unit to compress that sucker.. I have done lots of cars- not that tight !!
Any way, all working great. Head out to water.. SAME CRAP---- heavy ass hood..
Shock must have come off again.. Maybe I have some other issue as well.. But Everything looks normal.
ANY Help is Appreciated.. This is on my 08 RXT - only 1.5 summers old.. All my other RXT/GTX 's of this body
have never had an issue at all.

I had the same problem with my 08 rxt. It was a recall at some point but the dealer doesn't fix it anymore. I got a new shock from a local dealer, it wasn't too expensive. There is a thread on the how to forum to correct the problem.

Could have went to auto zone for the new shock. Do a search, you are not the first person with this problem. Lots of good info out there for the taking...

Had the same problem on one of our RXT's. It's not easy to do if you have never done it before; even some of the dealer mechanics don't know how to do it correctly. The dealer we took it to "fixed" it twice on the RXT and within a few days it popped off the THIRD time. Eventually had to take it to a different dealer and they fixed it right the first time.

I have read thru all the stuff... THANKS SO MUCH...
I am still under warranty, but don't know if it's worth the trouble to take in (its a long drive)..
Maybe I can just order the new Rod, Lever, Lever support and do it myself for the price of gas !!!
I am just worried that my other parts listed above may now be bent/ jacked up

I use these guys for parts - very quick and good pricing:
work your way to OEM parts, year, ski, etc.
see "front storage compartment 2" for what you need.
