    When rebuilding the engine

How much oil do you put in the bottom of the crank case?

And what type of oil is everyone running in the crank case?

None.. All you need is a light coat of 2-stroke oil on the bearings.

When I tore it down it had a 1/4" of oil or so in two of the cylinders. So this doesn't get replaced?

No the crank is lubed with the oil injection system

A 2 stroke doesn't have oil sitting in the crank like a four stroke does. The bottom end gets lubricated from the oil thats injected or mixed with the gas. What you saw was probably unburnt gas and oil.

Agreed. Lube the bearings and maybe the pistons a little bit.
