leaf springs: can I replace a flat slipper with a radius end slipper?
Okay guys need help. I have a single place trailer, gvwr is rated at 1350. I have a 2012 Seadoo GTR (dry weight 765 lbs) on it. My current leaf springs broke from age/rust. They are a 3 leaf, 25 3/4 length eye to end or 26 overall and a flat end slipper. Went to trailer pkace with old one they gave me a 3 leaf, 24 1/4 length eye to end, radius end slipper. He said it should work. I did one side of the trailer and the fender has now less then a 1/4 clearence from the tire. The old spring is still on the other side and has 1 inch or more clearence. Called the trailer shop he said to change the other side (old one) and it should level out. I hate to do all this work and have it not work. Im thinking since the length is shorter, and the end going from flat to radius is the problem. What do you guys think? Also by the way new ones are galvanized, old ones are not and they are the same thickness.
