    Impeller interference

I was trying to install a brandy new Solas prop on my SS 6-vein and there was an interference between the impeller cone ID and the boss on the stator. Anyone have this problem before?

Any issue with sanding down the boss a little?

Is it the sides rubbing or is it bottoming out?

If it's bottoming, shim it up a tad.

If your rubbing on the OD and ID, grind away a little at a time.

Rubbing bad enough that it doesn't totally fit over top - ill grind on the stator - don't want to affect prop balance

Drop a shim on the stub shaft.

Stub shaft out - can see how interference wouldn't allow impeller to seat on shaft

I would use a shim or washer on top of the collar that runs in the seals.

Need to be a 1/4" shim if I shim it - won't that give me driveshaft probs?
