    Sc washer question

I purchased a x charger used in classifieds that was suppose to have 10 hrs or so, I noticed it had some endplay and side to side play on shaft so I decided to at least replace the bearings and shaft.

I have a 08 (100) kit on hand and went ahead and replaced the bearing and shaft and used the old clutch washers and a new set of mcmaster spring washers.

could only get the slip to 100 in/lbs (wet with oil) with the old clutch washers and a set of new mcmaster spring washers, and a shim.

the old clutch washers have a abrasive finish on the sides of the washers and not sure if there worn or not. Should I just use the new gold washers in the kit I already have? dont feel like waiting to get out on the water

    thanks
    Bill

Why would you use the old washers if you bought the entire rebuild kit? Then you have 2 sets of parts in your sc with different times on them. If your into riding and not tinkering , put in the new parts and run it...

There is a sticky on the subject, in the how to section, I would use the new stuff only,
you might have to change the pattern of the washers to get better slip, or use a shim,

I had the kit laying around for yrs, I used the old washers because they were on a xcharger from a 2010 ski which has newer upgraded washers then the 08 kit with gold washers. the xcharger supposenly only had 10 hrs on it and the washers look to be in good condition but I did not check the spec on washers.

so my question was are the older 08 gold washers any good to use in a xcharger

I changed the pattern on the washers but it really didnt change slip by that much.

I know you should use all the stuff in kit but the kit is older, and I figured the newer type clutch washers that were on the 2010 xcharger with 10 hrs would be better then the new gold washers in the older kit.

The L-cup might be different between the two.

Those newer abrasive washers are better. Put them back on bro! Also to raise slip just change your spring washer arrangement till it's where u want it. There are threads with different configs.

Doesn't seem so in this case. I wouldn't trust anyone elses claim on how much time is on anything...
