    97 GP1200 Waterbox

How hot should the exhaust water lock box / aluminum muffler be, I had some rocks in in the pipe took the water jacket out and cleaned them up . Its not as hot but still wouldnt want to leave my hand on it.

its relative to how hard you run it ..at steady idle after start up, you should be able to put your hand on the water lock box with out too much discomfort..I'm guessing 120 -140 deg..remember , at crusing speeds you will run alot more cooling water volume .. your issue is the unknown of whats still in the head water jackets?.. pulling the head may be in order...
