2000 Kawasaki 900 STX Max RPM
I bought the service manual for the ski, but it does not list the max RPM setting for the ski. Does anyone know the max setting for the RPM on the 900 out of water, running on garden hose??

That might be in the Owner's manual. One thing for sure, you don't want to rev it more than about 5000 or so.

start at 1600 out of water and adjust as needed in water, 1200 should be good in water.

Are you talking about the idle speed, or how fast you can rev it up to clear out the water?

I just rebuilt the engine, cleaned the carbs and fuel pump. Its idling around 1500 rpm, which should be about right according to the service manual. There is nothing that I have found in the manual to say what the max rpm's are on the engine. I am used to small engines, and all of those manuals give you a high and low setting. I want to make sure how fast it should be running before I put it on the water, it seems like it would probably turn well over 7000 or 8 rpm just by bumping the throttle and I do not want to have a high speed come apart. I don't see where there is a top end adjustment though.

they can and will run away with no load present, if that happens hold press the kill button an hold the throttle wide open and engine will stop.

Ok, Thanks. Still getting used to the jet ski world. I am going to try to put it in water today or tomorrow.
