    Help Needed - Mods for a 98 GSX LTD

    Folks,

    I'm currently looking at upgrading my 98 GSX Limited before summer. However i have a couple of questions which i'm hoping you guys can help me with ...
    1. UMI handle bars - will i need to purchase a full steering kit inorder to bolt the UMI handlebar to the same height as the standard?
    2. Prop - Solas Concord or Solas x prop? what are the differences??
    3. Grate - what do you recommened?
    4. Sponsons - is it really necessary to change??
    5. R&D Flame Arrestor - does it even increase any hp or just looks pretty?

    ALL OF THIS IS BASED ON MY OPINION and how i set up mine.........
    UMI- personal preference
    SOLAS pitch same as stock
    Inventionering Intake grate(if you can find one)
    Sonsons- Preference
    PROK flame arrestors- will require re-jetting and pop-off calibration 18-21 psi yes a tad more hp But overall throttle response!
    ALSO add Carbon Tech reed pedals

    Thanks mate - what do you mean by Solas pitch same as stock and what does the carbon tech reed pedals do?

    Use a Solas prop with the same pitch as stock..

    Carbon reeds are thinner and more responsive then the thick stock reeds..

    Intake Grate depend on the type of water you ride in..

    Sponsons - stock ones will throw you off - in a heavy turn..

    Jetting - 947 engine with nothing but aftermarket filter at sea level > 2.0 Needle and seat, 95 gram spring, 85 Pilot Jet, 165 Main Jet, 19-25 PSI Pop Off pressure..

    1 1/4 turns out LS and 0 turns out HS adjuster screw setting. These specs are with an active accellerator pump with clean diffuser nozzels.

    Stock prop re pitched +1 degree and outer edges welded and machined back to an interference fit of a new OEM pump liner, balanced and trued using Impros
    V force or Rinnaldi reeds are better still
    stock intake grate is still the best other than surf/racing riding.
    Worxs Sponsons and you will never have stock sponsons again
    PROK Sea Doo 951 Flame Arrestors with jetting changes
    Pump wedge just for top end speed but decreases handling.

    SURFnTURF - what sort of jetting changes would you recommend for the 951 with the Prok Flame Arrestor?

    btw where would be a good place to shop for parts for the 951 in oz?

    i have heard that the Carbon tech reeds are straight bolt on. Anyone used them before?

    With Proks with accelerator pumps working 2.0 N/S , 87.5 low open 1.5 turns high 167.5 closed (both) 20 pop off Black Spring
    No Pumps same as above except 95 low open 1.5 turns.
    My own ski uses 165 highs and I have Advanced the timing to 2 on the programmer
    You want a good prop and OEM liner.

    I dont usually get parts here in Oz unless I am in a hurry.

    what is a good prop for the stock 951 enginge?

    The stock prop is very good just have to re pitch it to get your revs where you would like them.
