Riding on Pamlico Sound - Around Salvo, NC
Anyone have any experience riding in the OBX - Pamlico Sound, specially around Salvo, NC. ?????
Thinking of dragging the ski out there all the way from Charlotte for a week long vacation. Have read lots of older info about some shallow waters, but trying to understand if this is just not a good area to ride... Any first hand experience?

No idea but if you go, let me know. I live in Charlotte and ride LKN as well and I've been thinking about taking my skis to the ocean as well but don't know if its going to be worth riding out there for it. Our beaches can be weird.

Been to outer banks may times. The sound does have lots of shallow (under 2') areas. The channels are clearly marked, so those of course are all good. I've never had an issue boating or skiing just about anywhere I want out there, but running aground can be dangerous at high speed. Google can provide some up to date depth charts that will give a good idea of where its safe.

anything near shore is shallow, we would ride straight out (west) for about a mile then turn south and watch for waves breaking.
