    Stator Replacement

I don't have a spark on the 2001 Virage and I think it's the stator. Is this the same thing as a magneto?

Can I replace it while the craft is still in the water or is it better to get a tow and replace it on the trailer? Is it difficult to replace?

Anything is possible, but it is no fun working on the engine of a floating watercraft, even beached. xlint89 can provide commentary on that

A trailer is much better. Getting it onto a shop cart is best. Much less shin damage.

Is this a carburetor engine or fuel injected?

On these engines, stator = magneto.

The jet pump also has a stator section, but that is totally different.

    The engine has a carb.
I think it's the stator because I have 6.5-7 volts on the brown wire leaving the CDI when I crank the engine but no spark. I haven't done the "insert a 9 volt battery test" yet.
I ordered a new terminal board. Once it comes in, I'll put the electrical box back together and run that test.

I don't think that's the issue. It's been running fine until a leak got away from me and the bilge filled up with water. Now I can't get a spark.

A 01 Virage should already have the jumper factory installed........at least mine does.
