Thread: Anti-pooling poles

Can anyone explain (or post pics/part numbers) how the anti-pooling poles work on the factory boat covers?? I have found a new silver OEM cover for sale locally, Part # 280000175, but it doesn't have the poles.
My current cover was made for the last owner by a canvas shop, and although its a great color and very heavy, it pools water like crazy and puffs up at highway speeds.

Don't they just push up on the cover while sitting on the floor? I think mine has a grommet in the cover where it pops out of.

Do you have any pics of the poles, or do they have a part number on them?

Mine are from an Utopia 205. They are up North at the moment.

The poles are a pretty crappy set up IMHO. the front pole is just about in line with the edge of the front (bow) seat cushion and attaches to the front cleats with a right and left strap. Then there is a strap that is adjustable that attaches to the rear pole to keep tension on them. The rear pole sits at the edge of the rear middle seat cushion (this sucks) and it also has a right ans left strap to the rear cleats. Then the cover goes over them...
I only use the cover when the boat is sitting. Not towing...
I`ll try and get pics the next time the cover is off...
you can really make your own and probably do a better job! wooden dowels (closet hanger rod), rubber end caps and some old ratchet straps for ties or rope...

I picked the cover up last night, and its in perfect shape. I'll have to work with it a bit and see how it to get poles set up in it.
If anyone wants to buy the green cover pictured above, its perfect for storage
