New to me 98 GSX - Help name this part please!

Last week I bought a 1998 GSX-L for $500. It's been sitting since 2005. It was stored in a garage for that time and it was put up dry. i.e no gas, water or oil in it and I dont know if it matters or not but it was stored in socal so it didn't get very cold at all. It has a new rebuilt motor with 30 hours on it. First things first, here are a few pics of the beast after I got it home and hosed it off.

While looking it over to see what needs to be replaced, I came across a broken nipple on what looks to be a sensor. It looks like there is tubing coming from both RAVE valves, then it 'T' s off and a single tube goes to a sensor. Well the part on the sensor is broken off. Here's a pic of what i'm talking about:

Can anyone tell me what this part is called and what it does please? Can I start up the ski without replacing it or should I replace it before hand? Also any other tips or tricks I should do before bringing this beast back to life?

I cant see it too well but looks like the RAVE valve solenoid. It opens the Exhaust valves.
P.S. Those aren't the carbs. They are the Rave valves

You can run the boat without it, you just won;t get full RPM's..

But you can sure see if you can get it to pop for you..

Ebay is your best bet - used will doo..

You should pull the carbs and clean the internal fuel filters, before you try to run it at full throttle..
