    Tiny Tach problems

Can you guys give me some pointers as to what I'm doing wrong?

I first routed it down the main harness and only had one wire wrapped, It showed an idle of 4-5K and a WOT of 19900! lol So I did some reading on here and found that the main harness can cause interference and that all 3 wires should be wrapped. So I did this. I'm still yielding the same results. Any pointers? I also realized this $30 tiny tach doesn't have the functionality of the commercial version, which I now regret but whatever....

Obviously not the neatest job, I'm just looking for proper function before I spent the time actually routing it right. For now it just drops in under the seat seal.

Your only supposed to wrap the red wire around one spark plug wire.

Directions clearly state the three steps. Wrap red wire around one plug wire 3-4 tuns. Ground white wire to engine block. Coil up any excess wire.

only one wire, use the front spark plug , it's the only one without any other spark plug cable touching it. the the black line to the engine block.

I understand what the directions say. I followed the directions, adjusted, adjusted with no results, then consulted the threads I found here that show people with all three wires wrapped.

Why don't you guys post some pictures of how you have yours are wrapped. I'd appreciate it. Birdgod, thanks for the tip on the front wire, only. I'll give that shot.

Maybe some of the guys that have the three wires wrapped will chime in during the meantime.

I'll be pulling apart my black/gold this week/weekend to drop in the jetworks/dplate/FF and some other junk so I'm in no hurry.

Just to reiterate, After not having any results per instruction....I started rerouting and trying different wraps. Single wire/three wires, etc...Which is when I found this. Personally, I find no reason to distrust something that Pale Rider would do to his ski. Also, searching around you can find that others have their Tiny Tach wrapped the same way. I'm sure it's just a matter of the commercial vs standard tach and the functionality it lacks.

Go with the commercial tach if you do end up needing another one. I have the commercial and set at the 120 setting and works like a champ. Also the max rpm recall is a great feature for tuning ski.- 2005 kawasaki stxr used on no problems and only wrap the 1 wire not all 3

I'll just return this one if it keeps giving me problems and get the commercial version. I can't imagine this is user error, after many different configurations I'm still yielding the same results. I understand tachs, I've installed a few in my time and I understand induced signals and how it reads. Tomorrow I'm going to toss a ferrite core on it and see if it helps at all.
