    Angry 2009 260x SC rotor shaft broken @ 78 hrs

    I am looking for reason why this shaft might have broke... ski has been in fresh water all its life... No other problems... oil in reservior smelt like soured sock juice!!! Does anyone know or have a trashed/used SC for sale for these parts? i have already talked to the Japan co that made this and they were no help... if anyone knows where to get parts or a cheap new SC...any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

    sorry but there is no cheap fix, you will just have to buy another s/c just like many others

    Any reason this might have happened? Going thorugh the dealer sounds expensive around here... any aftermarket part dealers sell the SC at cost?

    looks like a very clean break seen a few pics on here over the years exactly the same, have no idea how it happened, what were you doing at the time it broke? you will just have to try the normal parts sites and or dealers, check on here or failing that try cyclepartsnation.com

    Normal riding with passenger... crusing into the dock and sound started...like rotors were rubbing on each other...limped in and started one more time at house to dertermine area to start troubleshooting... anyway... thanks bro...

    Most likely sucked some water in or it just broke for no reason both are common. How was the condition of the dampener ?

    OP,

    How do those round black rubber dampers look on the s/c pulley plate?
    Those rubber pieces act as shock absorbers. If they are worn out and loose in the cup, the s/c shaft takes all the shock and eventually breaks like yours did.
    Can you post some pics showing the condition of those round black rubber pieces?

    Dampener looks good. Save it as they can't be bought separately should u ever need one

    Yeah thats about the only replacement parts you can buy!!! Well thanks for y'alls help...if anyone has or knows of a scrap S/C for sale...pass me along
