Unhappy Remove SS Wear Ring from Pump

Any ideas on how to get a stainless steel wear ring with no pry ears to separate from the pump without destroying it?. The pump has a thin film of 1211 on it. Changing the impeller.

    Thanks for any help.

Remove the ride plate to get a pry bar between the SS wear ring and water inlet block.

You can try some PB Blaster. Soak the periphery, let it soak in, then smack it with a dead-blow, then hit it again with the PB Blaster.

Doesn't work with everything, but when it works, it's GOLD!

After 10 years, I've only had one that wouldn't come apart. (And I fought that f'r for a month...)

Usually a little heat from a small butane torch can help loosen up whatever adhesive is holding it together.a good dead blow hammer works good too,I prefer a snap-on piston hammer cause the long head on one side off sets the handle and can make it easier to get into places where the handle gets in the way

I had my ski on my lift and lowered the lift so it was in contact with the ground. Then I jacked up the rear of the ski with a small jack under the pump and jump-sat on the back of my ski! Worked like a charm! Probably wont work if its on a trailer uinless connected to a hitch, might work on a dolly...

Edit: I removed the entire pump assembly though.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I was able to get it off without removing the ride plate. I bought a 5/16" threaded rod, 3 nuts and a washer. Inserted the rod into the pump holes and threaded on the nuts. The pump separated with very little pressure when I turned the threaded rod, holding the nut with a wrench.
