    Painting a GP1200R

Hi, I'm new here and im looking to completely repaint my WaveRunner, as well as filling in all those pesky scratches from the dock . Basically im looking for opinions on different types of paint, and what kind of bondo to fill in the scratches. I've already sanded down the top half with 80 grit and i will progress to 320 grit and im also painting the bottom. The ski is never usually in water longer than 48 hours (if that helps at all) sorry for long post but thanks in advance. (pics will be included )

I've heard that polyester bondo works for top-side too, and to piero underwater, you should use VINYL ESTER 3-m putty or west system epoxy with filler . thats made for underwater use .

I acctually used it on my old Kawi on the bottom. Went on like regular bondo and when it set I just sanded it down. I wanted the bottom to be smooth. I rode it for three or four more years with no problems. I think it was like $40 for a small kinda kinda expensive.

Marine Tex hands down. As far as paint goes, the top is simple. Prep the back 4 feet on the bottom and true it up. A good painter is recommended for the bottom and top. I would recommend pulling the engine and fluids (oil and gas) and all decals and plastics grab handles, steering etc. A bare hull essentially and prep the bottom and have it painted first then the top. Some guys are painting the inside of the hull a light grey or a black to clean the lines up inside. Good luck.

I was actually thinking of wrapping my ski with that vinyl wrap they have. You can have any design made you want and its cheaper that having the ski painted. Any feedback on this?

Im new to the custom world but the only thing i would worry about is the waterproof part of it like after 1 year or 2 would it start to peel or something.

Sanded it down with 80 grit, newspaper over engine bay for dust prevention (engine removed for rebuild). I will progress to 320 grit then 2-4 coats prime, 4 coats black, then 4 coats clear.
