trouble after trouble - 1050 sltx smoking a LOT.

Well, my engine is running but it is smoking very badly. I took the plugs out and they all have a drip of oil on them. It was winterized but how long does it take to get rid of all the fogging oil. I have been running it in the yard with the garden hose about 5 times for a few minutes each time. Any suggestions? Thanx
    -Ross

It takes a while..... Run it through a tank of gas. If the problem persists, time to look at the oil pump....

hmmm...it just doesn't sound right either. Would a compression test show up anything like a bad ring or something?

Is th oil pump cable hooked up correctly and working?

K447 - good question......it seems to have lots of oil, maybe too much? I haven't installed the new fuel float kit yet....would that have anything to do with the excess of oil? I would like to find a service manual as well but no find yet.
    Thanx, Ross

Ride it, it will clear up much faster.you can not create enough heat without loading the motor.

Unless you over flogged the cases with oil, it will smoke a lot until it burns out of there...otherwise, A. too much oil in the gas, B. oil pump is stuck at the WOT position at idle. Or, C. you put 2-stroke oil in the gas and your running the oil pump . WOT throttle is 40/1,, cruising is 50/1, and idle is 100/1 on the variable type oil pumps.

You should see my Pro785 smoke...lol Looks like its on fire! lol I run 40/1 with Klotz R-50. Some brands smoke more than other types. the Klotz R-50 is a semi-synthetic. Gotta love that smell! It should take only seconds to clear out any flogging really.

At the gathering last year I put in the oil first and then the gas. Big nono on a Pro785. When it finally fired up, it covered Dylans house completely! I never seen a cloud of 2-stroke oil that BIG! LOL ASK Ujustlost about it... About 75ft by 60 25 feet high!.

Sidenote,, When I removed my 750sl engine, I tipped it on its side and about 2 cups of creamy milky stuff came out of the cases! Can ya believe it? I couldn't. And it still ran fine. Not sure what to make of that. Its almost like stuffing the cases!

you were right - it did clear up after about 4 or 5 minutes of half throttle....only stalled once. It doesn't seem like it is idleing very smooth. I'm going to try a can of fuel additive. What are the best ones to use? Thanx
