    sl 900 still no spark

I have a 1997 sl900 that I bought not running. I has no spark. It does have the updated stator and cdi. I have ran all the tests in the thread "How to test CDI and Stator". All the resistance reading appear to be in spec but I ran some voltage tests and I am getting nearly 11 volts out of the brown cdi wire to the hall effect sensor.
Also if I am touching the primary coil wires at the connectors, I can feel a shock when the engine turns over. I am at a total loss on what to do except sell it to someone else and give up on having a jet ski.
We dont have a polaris dealer that sold any of these so the only mechanic in our area that knows anything about the polaris said if my coil checked out and my stator checked out then he would replace the cdi box. He said there is no real way to test the cdi.

Can anyone help me figure this out?
    Thanks

I think he's right about the CDI. I'm having problems with a sl 1050. I have weak spark on 1 cyliner and intermitent on another. Only one cylinder fires properly. I'm swapping my CDI next week I'll let you know if it fixes it. All my tests come out right too.

11 Volts maybe okay. I think the hall effect sensors need 9 volts. I can't beleive the extra 2 volts could be the problem.

Have you checked ebay for CDIs for the 1050. They want $200-$300 for one -- used.

That link is for the electrical box. If you notice there is no CDI in it.

Eleven volts from the CDI Brown wire to the stator suggests either the CDI has a problem or the CDI is not properly grounded.

When checking the Brown wire voltage did you keep the stator connected?

I had the brown wire disconnected but the rest were still connected.

I just checked the voltage on the black/white wire to the coil and only had 8 volts. Is this correct?

to bad there isn't a cdi box itself in there!! its the electronics box with the coils still in it, but everything else removed!!

is it ok to put 12 volts to the coil straight from the battery to see if it will spark ?

No that will not work. The 11 volts on the brown is troubling.Test that with the wire connected.
Like K447 said, make sure ALL your ground wires test good.
Then check the voltage on the other stator wires and report back.
Voltage coming out of CDI is 110v DC and higher on the 3 small wires to the coil (blk/grn-blk/blue-yel/brown)
